Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 Review

With a revolution in the laptop market, Lenovo is all set to introduce its new ThinkPad Tablet 2 which has features that will just entice you by its superiority. This tablet runs on the Windows 8 operating system, has an Intel Atom Clover Trail processor and a display screen size of 10.1” with a resolution of 1366X768 pixels and a pixel density of 155 ppi.

Apart from all these, it has incorporated a dual digitizer for the purpose of navigation, which lets you use your fingers or you can make use of a pressure sensitive pen instead. In addition, there is also an optional keyboard dock which has a pointing stick in the center.

The processor used for the graphics is Intel Integrated HD SGX545. Its weight is also surprisingly light at 1.3 pounds (19.93 oz or 565 gm approximately) and has dimensions of 10.34 X 6.48 X 0.39 inches, which makes it easy to carry every time and everywhere.

The phone inside this tablet is equipped with organizer features like calendar, alarm, to-do, document viewer which contains Office 2013, Office 2007, Office 2003 and PDF, and calculator. For the purpose of email, things like IMAP, POP3, STMP and Microsoft Exchange have been provided.


As far as the connectivity issue is concerned, Bluetooth version is 4.0, Wi-Fi is 802.11 a, b, g, n. multimedia files with MP3, MPEG4, H263 and H264 are well supported. There are some other attractive features like accelerometer, compass, voice commands, voice recording and additional microphones for noise cancellation as well. Instant messaging applications like Windows Live and MSN have also been pre-installed into the tablet.

Pros and Cons

Coming towards the pros and cons of the Lenovo ThinkPad tablet 2, it has excellent features like dual core processor, very fast processor at 1800 MHz, lots of RAM, a high resolution camera and a HDMI connector for TV-out. As far as the cons are concerned, it has a very low pixel density screen below 180 ppi.

Coming towards the pricing of this tablet, it has been priced at $649 for the base model whereas the advanced version would be available at $729. The higher model may incorporate things like fingerprint scanners or cellular capabilities.
